Best Trail Running Shoe Yet

First of all, I'm one of the lucky ones...every US 9.5 fits me in every brand. Running shoes don't give me blisters, even after 15 miles, I don't complain about laces, tongues, and toe boxes. They all just seem to work for my skinny, high arch. What I am sensitive to, and will complain about is cus...

Horrible shoe, even worse customer service

Preface: I've been wearing Hokas for a decade, and the Speedgoat 5's are my favorite trail shoe of all time. The Speedgoat 6's are the last Hoka I will ever buy. I wore them for one trail run on a moderately technical local trail. They caused blisters to form on the outside of my feet where the up...

Junk Shoes, Pull Tab Tore Out Very First Time Putting On

These Speedgoats are garbage. The pull tab on both shoes tore out the very first time I put them on. I had heard nothing but good things about Hoka shoes and I am extremely disappointed. After talking to customer care I learned that I have to send my shoes what 1-3 weeks for an evaluation and then they'd send out a new pair. I can't go that long without running shoes. I asked if they could send a new pair out and when those arrived I could send my junk pair in and they refused. I even asked for some sort of online credit and I would just deal with the tab problem. Again they refused. I will never buy another Hoka product and when this pair fall apart shortly I will be buying something else. 100% garbage customer service.

Read a lot of negative reviews before purchasing the 6 and decided to give them a shot when I had chance to buy @ discount. I ran all 4 of 100's in SpeedGoat 5's right out of the box with nothing but success! Wore these 6's for a 25M training run with 5k of elevation gain. Last 3-5 miles my right foot was cramping and I never cramp! These shoes are MUCH firmer than my GOAT 5's and I thought I might like that @ 180lbs, but NO! They also felt a bit less stable because of the firmness. Today I tried them for a 70min HRZ2 cruise and my left calf was cramping…I WILL NOT be running in these! Will use them for hiking as I prepare for my 200, maybe? I have 3 pair of 5's, but have moved on to Topo Ultra Adventure 4. They feel like my SG 5's, but with wider toe box which makes them more stable! Sad Day! Speedgoat has been my only trail racer!

I bought these shoes from a local retailer. I wore them once for a trail run and the heel counter in the left shoe dug into my ankle and caused a significant amount of pain post-run. I went through the process of returning them directly to Hoka with proof-of-purchase (I paid for shipping out-of-pocket). The return was within 90 days of purchase and I am a HOKA member. They ended up denying my return and shipping the shoes back to me.

Nice comfortable trail Runner. It seems the shoe is more narrow than the Speedgoat 5 so if borderline some may want to consider a wider shoe.

Will never buy Hoka shoes again

I've owned the Hoka Speedgoat 4 for a while but hadn't put many miles on them since I stopped trail running. Unfortunately, I made the massive mistake of taking these on a pilgrimage in Shikoku, Japan. Within days, I developed painful blisters so severe I needed urgent medical care. It completely derailed part of my trip. For context: I'm a Boston Marathon qualifier, and I've logged thousands of miles in many different shoes. I was wearing cushioned Balega socks, which I've used consistently during marathon training without issue. So I know this wasn't user error—it was the shoe. Whether it's the shape of the upper, the seam placement, or just poor long-wear design, these shoes were absolutely the wrong choice. I will never buy Hokas again.

Official Response by HOKA ONE ONE

Oh no. We didn't mean to steer you off course. Blisters are usually a sign of excess friction from an improper fit. Before committing to a new pair, please check our sizing chart here: bit.ly/HOKASizeChart to ensure the best match. And remember, we encourage you to make the most of our 30-day guarantee, bit.ly/HOKA30Day and put a new pair to the test before taking the plunge so we can ensure your comfort.
